A chemical process in which one or more components change to create new compounds or a new structure is known as a chemical change.
- In chemistry, changes can be better or worse depending on how you look at them; they are quite random or an unclear phenomenon.
- Every day, we observe several things in our environment changing, such as ice melting and food cooking. You may receive the original stuff back in some circumstances, but you may not.
- Some changes occur naturally and quickly, while others are caused by humans. You’ll notice that constant changes are going on in and around us, such as the growth of plants on your balcony, occasionally occurring color changes, and occasionally occurring leaf drying.
Types of chemical change
Most changes are of two types.
- Reversible (Able to be reversed)
- Irreversible
Reversible
- Reversible chemical reactions allow the reactants to change into the products and the products to change back into the reactants in either direction.
- This continues until equilibrium is reached, which is when it stops.
- There is no longer any change in the amounts of reactant and product when the two oppositely directed reactions are occurring at the same pace.

Irreversible
- An irreversible transformation is close to permanent and cannot be reversed by any physical or chemical methods. When a transformation is irreversible, certain new compounds are created.
- Both reversible and irreversible modifications have significant benefits. For instance, a blacksmith can mold an iron piece into many shapes.
- After being heated, it is beaten into the required shape. Metals expand when heated, while they compress when cooled.
- This explains why there are few gaps between the rails on railroad tracks. This is because summertime heat causes the metal tracks to expand. These gaps so make up for the extra space created by expansion.
