RACI is Acronym of Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed. If you want Project to be successfully completed you must formalize Accountability through a RACI Matrix.
RACI Break-Up
Responsible: Person who is Completing the Work;
Accountable: Person who is Making Decisions and Taking Actions on the Work;
Consulted: Person who should/must be Communicated, Regarding the Decision-Making Process and Specific Job;
Informed: Person who will be Updated on Decisions and Actions during the Project.
RACI Example
- DBA performs Database Upgrade to the Latest Version. This Database is used for Mission Critical Financial Application, Developed by Development Team;
- DBA Manager (PM) manages this Upgrade Project and takes the Required Decision;
- Finance Department staff uses this Critical Financial Application.
In this Scenario:
R – DBA is Responsible to Accomplish the Job;
A – DBA Manager (PM) is Accountable for this Project;
C – Development Team Must be Consulted regarding this Change;
I – Finance Department Staff Must be Informed for this Critical Change.
